John Henry Lefroy came from Engalnd to Canada in the 1800s to run our city's very first magnetic and meteorological oberservatory at the University of Toronto. He's also the subject of the most expensive painting in Canadian history (Paul Kane's Scene in the Northwest which is at the AGO), as well as being a soldier, a knight, an adminstrator, the Governor of Bermuda and a close friend of Florence Nightingale's.
